Travel DayDepart to Capetown from your point of origin
CapetownUpon your arrival at Capetown International Airport, you will be transferred to the hotel. We will spend a full day exploring one of the most charming cities in the world. A walk through the colorful Boo Kaap, a visit to Victoria and Alfred waterfront, or a walk either in the Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden, or at the beautiful Camp's Bay beach. The versatility of options allows us to appreciate the city’s cosmopolitan character and majestic beauty. After lunch in town we will climb Table Mountain in the afternoon. From our vantage point atop the mountain we will have the most iconic view of Capetown, and an unforgettable sunset. Meals: Dinner
Cape PeninsulaAfter the Breakfast at the hotel. Today we discovering the magic of Cape Peninsula National Park and the Cape of Good Hope. In the national park there are over 250 species of flora and fauna unseen anywhere else in the world; plus you can find elusive Cape Mountain Zebras, Chacma Baboons, Bontebok, Eland, and Cape Grysbok among the wildlife. Nearby tide pools and gorgeous coastline lure the camera’s eye. At the Cape of Good Hope we will be able to see the point where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet. Lunch in the area. En route to the Peninsula, along the famous Chapman Peak Drive, astonishing landscape vistas unfold before us. On our return trip we will visit the colony of penguins next to Simon’s Town.
Stellenbosch and the Wine LandsAfter the breakfast a private transfer will take us to the wine lands, and its “capital”, Stellenbosch. The second oldest European settlement in South Africa, this city represents a monument to Colonial architecture and is the perfect starting point on our journey to visit the countless vineyards in the area. With time enough to visit a few of the most famous, we’ll enjoy a lovely luncheon at one of the wineries before continuing our wine country exploration. Upon our return to Stellenbosch, we’ll enjoy a lovely dinner.
Stellenbosch - KnysnaAfter breakfast we will be transferred to the quaint and charming airfield of Stellenbosch, set among the hills and the vineyards. The flight to Plettenberg Bay will last about two and a half hours. Flown entirely at low altitude we are gifted with a wide variety of views: The Northern Coast of Capetown, Robben Island, and the prison in which Nelson Mandela spent many years. We’ll leave the Robben island area to fly through the centre of Capetown. On our left hand side we will pass the beach of Camp’s bay, then fly along the perimeter of the Cape of Good Hope. Once we round it, we will follow the coastline, over the city of Hermanus. During the annual migration season, it is possible for us to see whales playing and navigating through the ocean. We will also pass through Cape Agulhas, the most southern point of the African continent; we will overfly the beautiful Knysna Lagoon, at the start of the Garden Route. Once we land at Plettenberg Bay, we will be transferred to the lodge. The afternoon will be spent enjoying this unique town and the wonderful lagoon.
Knysna – TsiTsiKamma National ParkAfter breakfast. a full day spent in the Knysna area. A private vehicle will drive us through The Garden Route to the TsiTsi- Kamma Wilderness National Park, an untouched landscape of forest and wild beaches, set among towering rocky formations. We’ll lunch in the area and in the late afternoon we will head back to Knysna for dinner.
Knysna - Port Elizabeth Addo National ParkBreakfast and transfer to Plettenberg Bay Airport where our low altitude flight will last about one and a half hours, allowing us a continuous view of the southern coast of South Africa and an overfly of Jeffery’s bay, the capital city of South African surf.We will land at Port Elizabeth Airport and transfer to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon the first safari to the third largest national park in South Africa, Addo Elephant National Park, will provide us with the experience of a bio-diverse range of fauna and flora and magnificient landscapes. Stretching about 180,000 hectares it includes the Bird and St Croix Island groups. The original elephant section of the park had only eleven elephants but today this finelytuned ecosystem is sanctuary to over 600 elephant, lion, buffalo, black rhino, spotted hyena, leopard, a variety of antelope and zebra species, as well as the unique Addo flightless dung beetle, found almost exclusively in Addo. The park can exclusively - claim to be the only national park in the world to conserve the “Big 7” – the Big 5 as well as the southern right whale and great white shark off the Algoa Bay coast. Back to the lodge at sunset with dinner.
Addo National ParkBreakfast. Toda is fully dedicated to safari. Addo National Park, founded in 1931, is renowned for its avant-garde fauna conservation techniques. Along with a numerous elephants and grazers, it boasts a significant number of cats. A light lunch at one of the rest points in the park. Back to the lodge at sunset, dinner.
Addo - Margate San Lucio National ParkBreakfast, transfer to the air strip.We’ll depart for Richard's Bay Airport, the entry point to St. Lucia National Park. The flight will last two and a half hours, during which time we will enjoy the untouched vegetation of the incredibleWild Coast, the desert beaches, and the water of the Indian Ocean. Here it is not unusual to see dolphins or sharks hunting their prey.We’ll land at Richard's bay airport, transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon, we’ll have our first excursion in the park. Dinner.
St. Lucia National ParkBreakfast. A full day dedicated to the discovery of the park’s countless beauties. St. Lucia National Park’s UNESCO heritage items include five ecosystems: coastal forest, coral reef, beaches, swamps and bushveld. Lake St Lucia is actually an estuary, the biggest on the African continent. Here we will see something unique, not found anywhere else in the world: crocodiles and hippos swimming in the same water as sharks and dolphins. Light lunch in one of the rest points in the park, return to the lodge at sunset for dinner.
St. Lucia - Pretoria - JohannesburgBreakfast. Transfer to Richard's Bay Airport a two and a half hour flight along the border of the northern boundary of the Grand Drahensberg Mountain Range, before flying to Pretoria. The flight continues the offering of changeable and wild landscape which has been characteristic of this unforgettable trip. Upon landing we will have lunch at the airport and enjoy a final toast of fine South African wine, raising our glasses to toast the beautiful and magnificent adventures of the last eleven days. A private bus will take us to Johannesburg and board the plane back home.
